Wrong-Way DUI Crash At Marguerite Parkway
MISSION VIEJO, CA (January 1, 2025) — A tragic wrong-way crash in Mission Viejo claimed the life of a woman early Wednesday morning, January 1. The fatal collision occurred around 1:40 a.m. at the intersection of Marguerite Parkway and Pueblonuevo Drive, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities reported that a Chevrolet Malibu, traveling in the wrong direction, collided head-on with a Toyota Camry. The female driver of the Camry, described as being in her 60s, was rushed to a local hospital by responding paramedics. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
Geraldine Caicedo-Pere, The 26 Year Old Driver of the Chevy Malibu, Was Injured In The Crash As Well
The driver of the Malibu, identified as 26-year-old Geraldine Caicedo-Perez, and a passenger in her vehicle sustained unspecified injuries. Caicedo-Perez was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) and gross vehicular manslaughter.
