Hit-and-Run Crash on Santa Fe Drive Leaves Woman Seriously Injured
Merced County, CA (January 26, 2025) – A woman sustained major injuries in a hit-and-run collision early Sunday morning on Santa Fe Drive near Pepper Street, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash occurred on January 26 at approximately 1:30 a.m. An eastbound Honda was rear-ended by a Mazda under circumstances that remain under investigation.
Both Cars Were Forced Off The Road By The Impact of the Collision
The force of the collision caused both vehicles to veer off the road. The Mazda overturned, while the Honda was sent across nearby train tracks.
Emergency responders used the Jaws of Life to extricate the Honda’s driver, who was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Tragically, the victim’s dog did not survive the crash.
The Hit-And-Run Driver Jumped Into A Third Vehicle Where He Fled The Scene
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing the Mazda driver exit the vehicle before being picked up by a third car. The driver fled the scene without rendering aid.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the hit-and-run driver to contact the CHP immediately.
