MENTONE, CA (June 8, 2020) – Late in the afternoon on Friday, a small plane crashed in San Bernardino County, killing three people. The June 5 incident occurred near Mentone and to the east of it.
The time was roughly 4:00 p.m.
Reports say the plane–described as a single-engine Cessna–crashed in the vicinity of Highway 38, which is also called Mill Creek Road in that area. According to Ian Gregor, who is with the Federal Aviation Administration, it is not yet known why the plane crashed.
The downed plane could be seen from the road, according to Carl Baker, who is a spokesperson with the city of Redlands. The plane wreckage was on a ridgetop, and difficult to reach.
Responders in a helicopter with the San Bernardino County sheriff’s department, and responders on the ground discovered that three people aboard the plane had died.
None of the people aboard the plane have been identified in reports, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence. It is not known who had been piloting the plane, and who owned the plane.
