66-Year-Old Woman Killed in Car Accident Involved Shooting in Fresno
Fresno, CA (August 15, 2023) – A devastating incident unfolded on July 31 at approximately 6:44 p.m., leading to the untimely demise of Mary Lou Flores following a car accident with connections to a shooting incident near the intersection of Brawley Avenue and Weber Avenue.

According to official reports, the sequence of events was set into motion by an unforeseen public disturbance involving Mary Lou Flores, a 24-year-old male individual, and two unidentified suspects. Subsequently, after the altercation, both Flores and the 24-year-old male departed the scene in their respective vehicles, only to find themselves pursued by the suspects who were driving a Toyota RAV4.
In a harrowing turn of events, the suspects in the Toyota RAV4 began to discharge multiple gunshots at the 24-year-old male victim while he was inside his vehicle. Tragically, he sustained a serious gunshot wound to his upper body as a result of this attack. The assailants then continued their pursuit of Mary Lou Flores, whose vehicle was a Nissan Sentra.

The pursuit culminated in a fatal crash, as Mary Lou Flores lost control of her Nissan Sentra and collided with a guardrail. Regrettably, she did not survive the impact. Despite the grim outcome for Flores, her passengers managed to survive the collision.
In response to the incident, law enforcement swiftly intervened. The occupants of the Toyota RAV4, the suspects in this unfortunate chain of events, had fled the scene by the time authorities arrived. However, through diligent efforts, law enforcement successfully apprehended the suspects, identifying them as 20-year-old Johnny Tapia and his 25-year-old girlfriend, Nicole Williams.
The legal consequences for both Tapia and Williams are substantial. They now face a litany of charges, including but not limited to homicide and assault with a deadly weapon.
