Bakersfield Man on Motorized Scooter Seriously Injured in Hit-and-run Crash
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 20, 2021) – Early in the evening on Tuesday in Bakersfield, a hit-and-run driver collided with a man who was on a motorized scooter. The May 18 incident occurred where South King Street and East California Avenue intersect.
The time was roughly 6:40 p.m., according to Bakersfield Police.
Reports say the vehicle collided with the motorized scooter while making a left turn.
Released photos of the vehicle–that police suspect was involved in the incident–show a Nissan Versa four-door hatchback, light blue in color. The driver did not stop to help the victim, but fled the crash site.
Responders arrived and found the victim down on the ground. He suffered injuries that were described as moderate to major.
The identity of the victim, including his name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
