Video Captured Motorcycle and Car Fatally Striking Pedestrian in South Los Angeles Hit-and-run
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (November 25, 2020) – A motorcycle and then a car struck a pedestrian in a fatal hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles on Sunday. The November 22 incident was captured on video recently released by police.
The crash occurred in the neighborhood of Florence, on Central Avenue at 78th Street. The time was roughly 7:40 p.m., Los Angeles Police said.
The pedestrian had been crossing Central Avenue when a motorcycle, which had been northbound, struck the person. Surveillance video captured the incident, and recorded the rider being ejected from the motorcycle due to the force of the impact.
The rider fled the crash site and did not help the victim.
A vehicle– described only as a white car–was next captured on video hitting the victim who was down in the roadway. The driver also did not help the victim, but fled the scene.
Responders arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the crash site. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the two hit-and-run drivers. If anyone has information about the crash, the person can call Detective Gonzales or Detective Moreno. The number is 323-421-2500.
