Woman Identified as Victim Killed During Suspected West Hills Street-racing Crash
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 22, 2021) – Colleen Wong was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office as the victim who was killed in a crash in the West Hills area of Los Angeles during a suspected street race. Wong was an innocent bystander when her vehicle was struck in the March 19 incident, which occurred in the vicinity of the Montessori parking lot on W. Vanowen Street.
The time was a little after 4:00 p.m., Los Angeles Police said.
According to police, as many as three cars may have been racing on the street at Valley Circle, reports say. One of the cars went out of the driver’s control, and the car smashed into the vehicle Wong was driving.
Wong’s vehicle had been stopped at the intersection, police said, when it was struck.
Good Samaritans provided aid to Wong until responders came to the site. Responders also provided aid.
Wong was pronounced deceased at the crash site. She was 57 years old.
A driver was arrested by police at the incident site on suspicion of driving under the influence and street racing. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to search for the other drivers and vehicles–none of which have been described–that are suspected in the incident.
