Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Redondo Avenue in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (February 3, 2020) – On Friday night, a pedestrian was struck and killed in Long Beach. The January 31 incident occurred on Redondo Avenue where Hill Street intersects.
The time was roughly 7:15 p.m., Long Beach Police said.
Reports say the pedestrian had been walking across the road when the light was red for him and a vehicle—described as a Ford Ranger—which had been traveling south, hit him.
Responders arrived and transported the victim to the hospital. He died while in the hospital. The victim’s identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the pickup truck remained at the incident site and cooperated with the investigation. The driver was identified as a man 49 years old and a resident of Long Beach. His name has not been reported.
Investigators are gathering information and details to understand the factors and circumstances that contributed to the accident. No other information is known at this time.
