Long Beach Crash near Magnolia Avenue Kills Motorcyclist
LONG BEACH, CA (April 5, 2021) – Early in the afternoon on Sunday in Long Beach, a crash involving a motorcycle and a car killed the rider. The April 4 incident occurred close to where 32nd Street and Magnolia Avenue intersect.
The time was roughly 1:45 p.m., Long Beach Police said.
The rider–who was on a Yamaha motorcycle–had been traveling northbound on Magnolia. According to authorities, the rider is alleged to have been going at a fast speed when the motorcycle collided with a vehicle–described as a Honda Civic–which had been going through the intersection on 32nd Street.
Reports say the Honda had been stopped at the 32nd Street stop sign and then entered the intersection.
A Good Samaritan provided help to the injured rider until responders came on scene. The driver of the Honda remained at the crash site.
Responders worked to help the motorcyclist, but he died at the crash site. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the car was identified as a woman who is a resident of Long Beach, 71 years old. Her name has not been reported.
The Honda’s driver is cooperating with the investigation, reports say. Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened, and they are in the process of collecting information and details.
