Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck was involved in a four-car crash Wednesday night.
The accident happened in suburban Ventura County when Beck’s driver and city vehicle were involved in the crash.
According to a California Highway Patrol dispatcher, one person in one of the other three vehicles was taken to Simi Valley Hospital for minor injuries.
Beck and his driver were not injured, said spokesperson Nuria Venegas to City News Service.
“I’m okay and thankful the others are not seriously injured. Thanks for checking on me. I’ll be back to work tomorrow,” Tweeted Beck nearly three hours after the crash.
The crash was reported at 5:50 p.m. on the westbound Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway at Stearns Street, according to California Highway Patrol officers. A pickup truck entering the freeway hit another vehicle, triggering a chain reaction. The chain reaction caused the damage to the SUV Beck was riding in, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatcher.
Aerial images showed the SUV had damage on the side of the vehicle and two other vehicles with severe front end damage.
Police are still investigating if any charges are to be filed.
