High-speed Crash on Foothill Blvd. in Sylmar, Kills One, Injures Two
SYLMAR, CA (May 12, 2021) – On Sunday night in Sylmar, a high-speed crash killed a person and injured two other people. The May 9 incident occurred on Foothill Boulevard in the 16600 block.
The time was a little after 9:00 p.m., Brian Humphrey said. Humphrey is a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson.
Reports say that a vehicle–which has not been described–had been heading north at a fast speed. The vehicle went over the double yellow lines, according to Los Angeles Police, and collided with another vehicle head on.
The second vehicle has not been described.
Responders arrived and pronounced a person deceased at the crash site. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release that information after they perform an examination and notify the victim’s family.
Responders worked to extricate two people who were trapped in the wreckage. They transported the patients to a hospital in the area.
The types of injuries the two people suffered, and their current condition, are not known. They have not been identified in reports.
Investigators are continuing to work on the crash.
