Garden Grove Man Among 3 Killed in Orange Crash; 4 Injured
ORANGE, CA (July 11, 2022) – Early in the morning on Saturday in Orange, a crash killed three people, including Gustavo Castro, and injured four. The July 9 crash occurred close to where Taft Avenue and Glassell Street intersect.
The time was roughly 2:50 a.m., Orange Police said.
Authorities allege a vehicle–described as a Nissan Altima–had been traveling at a fast speed prior to the collision.
Officers began following the car after observing the vehicle, reports say, but stopped following when the car drove off at a high rate of speed, police allege.
According to authorities, the Nissan went out of the driver’s control and smashed into a pole and a fence.
When police arrived at the crash site, the Nissan was fully burning, reports say.
All of the occupants of the Nissan–seven people total–were reported to have been thrown from the car. Two of the people were described as minors.
Reports say three people died and four people suffered moderate to serious injuries.
Gustavo Castro was identified as one of the three people who died. He was a resident of Garden Grove, 26 years old.
A boy and a girl were also killed. They have not been identified in reports.
Responders transported the driver and three other patients to a hospital for treatment.
The driver’s condition was described as critical. The driver was identified as Azarie Fuller, a resident of Exeter, 19 years old.
Two patients suffered serious injuries and their conditions were described as critical. They have not been identified.
Another patient suffered moderate injuries, reports say.
Investigators are collecting details and information regarding the crash, and to find out if a street takeover incident was a factor.
