Fresno, CA (November 28, 2023) – On Thanksgiving Day, shortly after noon, a pedestrian was struck by a large truck on Highway 99 near Olive Avenue.
The initial report to the California Highway Patrol came in at approximately 11:00 a.m., indicating that an individual had parked a car along the highway and ventured into the roadway.

California Highway Patro (CHP) searched the vicinity for the vehicle or individual, but their efforts yielded no results.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received a call from a woman reporting an incident. She stated that she was trailing a large rig when a person suddenly darted from the highway’s edge directly in front of the truck. The driver skillfully swerved, narrowly avoiding a collision with the pedestrian.
Officers thoroughly searched the vicinity for the vehicle linked to the individual in question but were unable to locate anything.
Upon receiving the third call, officers responded to a report of a man being struck by a big rig and lying in the roadway.
Upon arrival, they discovered a man in his 50s from Kerman, with the victim’s registered vehicle and a big rig pulled over. Sadly, he was transported to CRMC in critical condition but, regrettably, succumbed to his injuries.
