One Killed When Four Vehicles Crash Head-on on Air Expressway in Victorville, CA
VICTORVILLE, CA (August 9, 2022) – Late in the afternoon on Sunday in Victorville, four vehicles collided head on, killing one person. The August 7 crash occurred on Air Expressway close to Nevada Avenue.
The time was roughly 5:00 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.
Authorities say a vehicle–described as a Toyota Corolla–was traveling on Air Expressway. The Toyota’s driver attempted to pass a vehicle and traveled into the lane of opposing traffic.
The Toyota collided with a Chevrolet Silverado head on, and then collided with another vehicle, described as a Kia Soul.
The Toyota and the Chevrolet caught fire when the crash happened, and the Kia overturned and rolled over a number of times.
The Kia hit a vehicle, described as a Volkswagen Jetta, authorities said.
Responders found the driver of the Toyota died in the crash. He was identified only as a resident of Victorville, 25 years old. His name has not been reported.
Responders transported the Chevrolet’s driver and the Kia’s driver to a hospital in the area. Their injuries were described as minor to moderate.
The Chevrolet’s driver was identified only as a resident of Hesperia, 50 years old. His name is not known from reports.
The Kia’s driver was identified also as a resident of Hesperia, 46 years old. Reports do not state her name.
No details have been reported about the driver of the Volkswagen, and it is not known if anyone in that vehicle was injured.
Investigators are continuing to work on the crash. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can contact Tyler Whitcomb, who is a deputy, or Nicholas Clark, who is a sergeant.
