San Diego Elderly Woman Injured by Hit-and-run Driver in Marina Area
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 1, 2021) – On Sunday afternoon in San Diego, an elderly woman was struck and severely injured by a hit-and-run driver. The May 30 incident occurred in the Marina area, at 700 W. G Street.
The time was roughly a little before 3:00 p.m., John Buttle said. Buttle is an officer with San Diego Police.
The woman had been walking across the street, and a vehicle–described as a Nissan Altima, white in color–struck her. The driver did not stop to help the woman, but fled the crash site.
Responders arrived and took the victim to UCSD hospital. The injuries she suffered include a brain bleed and cuts on the back of the head, according to Buttle.
She was identified only as 87 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved, and the suspect hit-and-run driver, who has not been described. If anyone has information about the crash, the person can contact San Diego Police. The number is 619-531-2000, or 858-484-3154.
