Bicyclist Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Incident on Center Street
El Segundo, CA (August 4, 2024) — A bicyclist was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Center Street and Mariposa Avenue on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on August 4. According to the El Segundo Police Department, a deputy from the sheriff’s gang narcotics team attempted to pull over a suspect for reasons still unknown. Instead of complying, the suspect rammed the deputy’s vehicle and fled the scene.
Hit-and-Run Suspect Rammed Sheriff’s Deputy First Before Fleeing The Scene
During their search of the area, deputies discovered the injured bicyclist and provided immediate first aid. The victim was then rushed to a hospital in critical condition. Authorities located the suspect’s abandoned car nearby, but the driver had already fled.
