El Cajon Crash involving Suspected Hit-and-run Tow Truck Driver Injures 3
EL CAJON, CA (March 31, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash involving a tow truck injured three people in El Cajon on Tuesday. The March 30 incident occurred near an apartment area in East County, on Jamacha Road.
Reports say a vehicle–described as a tow truck, which had been transporting two cars–had been heading south on Jamacha Road. The tow truck is alleged to have made an abrupt turn, and struck another vehicle.
Subsequent to the initial impact, the tow truck struck a number of palm trees before coming to a stop.
Responders transported two people who had been traveling in the vehicle–which has not been described–to hospitals in the area. The two patients suffered injuries that were described a significant, according to Jeremiah Larson, who is a lieutenant with El Cajon Police.
The identities of the people, including who the driver had been when the crash occurred, have not been reported.
Reports say the person who had been driving to tow truck ran from the crash site. The person came back to the crash site while authorities were present, and the person was arrested.
Responders transported the truck driver to the hospital. The types of injuries the person suffered is not known. The truck driver has not been identified.
Investigators are continuing their work on the details and information regarding the crash.
