El Cajon Crash at East Main Street and Avocado Blvd. Kills Driver
EL CAJON, CA (May 3, 2021) – Early in the morning on Saturday in El Cajon, a driver was killed in a collision with another vehicle. The May 1 incident occurred where Avocado Boulevard and East Main Street intersect.
The time was roughly 7:29 a.m., Darrin Forster said. Forster is a lieutenant with El Cajon Police.
A vehicle–described as a Volkswagen–had been heading west on East Main Street. According to Forster, the Volkswagen is suspected of having gone through a light that was red at the Avocado Boulevard intersection.
A vehicle–described as a Nissan–which had been heading north on Avocado Boulevard, hit the Volkswagen, and the Nissan came to a stop after hitting a power box.
The person who had been driving the Volkswagen was thrown from the car. Responders found the person on the ground, reports say.
Good Samaritans and police officers gave the person CPR until responders from Heartland Fire arrived on scene. Responders transported the patient to the hospital.
The person was pronounced deceased in the hospital. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Nissan suffered injuries that were described as minor. Responders transported the patient to the hospital. The person’s identity has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to work on the incident. If anyone has information about the crash, calls can be made to authorities.
