Car Hits Teen-Age Skateboarder in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA – A car hit a teen-aged man while he was riding his skateboard. The driver that hit the skateboarder fled the scene when the accident happened Tuesday night.
At about ten at night near Niles and kern Streets, the teen-aged skateboarder, a nineteen-year-old, was traveling east while a motorist was approaching westbound. The vehicle hit the skateboarder knocking him off his skateboard and onto the floor. He managed to catch a skewed glimpse of the vehicle when he was hit and howling with pain. According to Bakersfield Now, the vehicle was akin to a 1996 or 1997 maroon or red Toyota Camry.
The driver did not stop to help the fallen skateboarder who received moderate injuries, neither did the motorist recognize nor apologize for the incident. The vehicle fled the scene before police arrived or anyone stopped and questioned the driver.
Bakersfield police are on the lookout for anyone who fits the description of the vehicle per the victim. They are gathering clues and questioning vehicles that are similar in criteria. Damage to the vehicle might prove suspicious to the police and the driver might be taken in for questioning. The car might have damage to the passenger’s side mirror.
