Fatal Crash on Highway 101 Causes Major Road Closures
CAMARILLO, CA (March 17, 2025) – A deadly two-vehicle collision early Monday morning on Highway 101 at Carmen Drive led to significant road closures and traffic disruptions in Ventura County.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred at 2:56 a.m. on March 17 in the middle lanes of the highway. The impact left both vehicles in the center divider under Carmen Drive.
One Driver Was Transported To A Nearby Hospital While The Other Died At The Scene of the Crash
Authorities identified one of the vehicles as a black Ford Mustang, while details about the second vehicle remain unclear. Emergency responders from the Ventura Sheriff’s Office and Ventura County Fire Department rushed to the scene. Paramedics transported at least one injured person to Ventura County Medical Center, while another victim succumbed to their injuries following the crash.
Due to the severity of the incident, all lanes on Highway 101 were blocked, forcing police to divert traffic off the highway at Lewis Road. Officials later requested Caltrans to implement a hard closure as investigators worked to determine the cause of the collision.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities urge motorists to seek alternate routes and drive with caution.
