Bernabe Lopez Garcia Killed in Bakersfield Head-on Crash on Stockdale Highway; One Injured

One Person Killed and One Injured in Head-on Crash on Stockdale Highway in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 22, 2022) – Early in the morning on Friday in Bakersfield, a head-on crash killed Bernabe Lopez Garcia, and injured one person. The March 18 crash occurred on Stockdale Highway, close to Highway 43 and to the west of it.
The time was roughly 1:47 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Lopez Garcia had been westbound on the highway when, for reasons that are not known, he went into the lanes of opposing traffic. The Chevrolet he was driving collided head on with a Kenworth semi truck.
The driver of the Chevrolet was killed in the crash. He was later identified by the Kern County coroner’s office as Bernabe Lopez Garcia, a resident of Arvin, 24 years old.
Responders transported a patient who had been a passenger traveling in the Chevrolet to Kern Medical. The patient suffered injuries that were described as major.
The identity of the patient has not been reported.
Reports also do not say if the truck driver was hurt. The truck driver has also not been identified.
Investigators are continuing to work on the crash.
