BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 31, 2023) — In a somber incident on Saturday evening, October 28, a man lost his life in a pedestrian accident on Niles Street in Bakersfield.
Woman Driving 2014 Nissan Plows Into Man Walking Across Niles Street
The fatal accident unfolded just after 10:30 p.m., occurring just west of Barlow Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman was driving a 2014 Nissan eastbound on Niles Street when tragedy struck. Simultaneously, a pedestrian, clad in dark clothing, began walking in an unspecified direction within the first lane, outside of a designated crosswalk.
Regrettably, the Nissan collided with the pedestrian, inflicting major injuries upon the victim.
Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, transporting the injured pedestrian to Kern Medical hospital. Despite medical efforts, the pedestrian succumbed to the injuries and was pronounced dead.
Nissan Driver Remained At Scene And Did Not Appear Intoxicated
The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the authorities throughout the aftermath of the tragic incident.
Officials have clarified that alcohol and drugs did not contribute to the crash. Nevertheless, an ongoing investigation seeks to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
