Collision on Highway 58 Pins Man between Two Big Rigs in Bakersfield, CA
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 9, 2021) – Late in the afternoon on Thursday in Bakersfield, a man was seriously injured when a big rig struck the back end of his vehicle, pinning him under a semi truck. The July 8 crash occurred on Highway 58 on the westbound side of the roadway, close to the offramp for Chester Avenue.
The time was roughly 5:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
According to authorities, one of the semi trucks rear-ended a vehicle, described as a Nisan, pinning it between another semi truck. The Nissan ended up trapped beneath one of the trucks.
Responders worked to free the man who was trapped in the car. He suffered injuries that were described as severe. His current condition is not known.
His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The truck driver who is suspected of rear-ending the vehicle has not been identified in reports. Investigators are working to collect information and details to understand why the crash happened.
