Bicyclist Injured by Hit-and-run Driver on Audubon Drive in Bakerfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 3, 2019) – A hit-and-run driver struck and injured a bicyclist in Fresno in the afternoon on Tuesday. The July 2 incident occurred on Audubon Drive near Quincy Avenue in the northeast area of the city.
The time was roughly a little after 2:30 p.m.
According to Chad Soares, who is an officer, the bicyclist had been traveling in the bike lane, heading west in the direction of Quincy Avenue. A vehicle—described as a GMC Yukon, white in color with a chrome grill—that was trying to pass another vehicle by using the right lane, hit the bicyclist.
The impact threw the bicyclist to the ground. The victim suffered multiple injuries, reports say, including a pelvis that was fractured. Responders transported him to Community Regional Medical Center.
The man was identified only as in his late 60s. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
According to people who saw the incident, the person driving the vehicle stopped after hitting the victim, but the person did not exit the vehicle. The person then drove off.
Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved, and the driver. The driver has not been described in reports.
