Apple Valley Man Injured After Being Struck By Car, Investigation Underway

Local Male Pedestrian Injured in Collision
APPLE VALLEY, CA (October 24, 2024) — A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on Apple Valley Road near Mandan Road on the evening of October 24.
The accident occurred around 6:55 p.m., according to authorities. A 24-year-old male pedestrian was hit by a car under unclear circumstances in the town of Apple Valley. When first responders arrived, they found the injured man and a white Mitsubishi SUV with significant front-end damage.
Poor Visibility Played A Part In The Accident
Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver did not see the pedestrian due to poor visibility from dark road conditions. While one witness reported that the man had been operating a motorcycle before the crash, this account has not been confirmed by sheriff’s officials.
Paramedics airlifted the victim to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Authorities are asking anyone with additional information about this crash to contact the Police Department.
Officials urge drivers to exercise caution, especially at night when visibility is reduced, and remind pedestrians to stay visible by wearing light-colored clothing and using crosswalks in well-lit areas.
