Bicycle Collision On West Cypress Street Leaves Local Teen Dead
COVINA, CA (September 30, 2024) – A 17-year-old cyclist, Alexander Lopez, was tragically killed after being struck by a vehicle in Covina on Monday morning, September 30. The accident occurred around 7:23 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Cypress Street, near Northview High School, where Lopez was riding his bicycle on his way to school.
According to the Covina Police Department, Lopez was hit by a white pickup truck. The impact caused fatal injuries, and despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alexander Lopez Was a Student Within the Azusa Unified School District
Lopez, a resident of Covina, was a student within the Azusa Unified School District. Authorities have confirmed that the driver of the truck was not arrested at the time of the incident. The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation.
Covina Police are urging anyone with information about the collision to come forward as they continue to investigate the fatal incident.
