Teenager Identified as Pedestrian Killed by Suspected DUI Driver in Orange
ORANGE, CA (May 24, 2021) – Aden Uriostegui was identified by family members as the teen who was struck and killed by a driver suspected of DUI in Orange. The May 19 crash occurred where Heim Avenue and Tustin Street intersect.
The time was roughly 10:09 p.m., according to Orange Police.
Uriostegui had been walking across the road within a crosswalk, according to Phil McMullin, who is a police sergeant. A vehicle–described as an F-250 pickup truck–had been southbound on Tustin Street.
According to a person who witnessed the incident, reports say, the pickup went through a light that was red and struck the pedestrian.
Responders arrived and pronounced Uriostegui deceased at the crash site. He was a resident of Orange, 19 years old.
The driver stayed at the crash site. He was arrested by authorities on suspicion of DUI.
He was identified as Sitani Pinomi, a resident of Orange, 39 years old. According to authorities, reports say, Pinomi had been driving with a suspended license when the incident occurred. He has a prior conviction of DUI, reports say.
