Police Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run At Western Avenue and 83rd Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 27, 2025) — A 62-year-old man was killed Friday night in a hit-and-run collision in South Los Angeles, and police are now searching for the driver responsible.
The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of Western Avenue and 83rd Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Danny Estis Was Walking Outside of The Crosswalk When He Was Struck
Authorities said Danny Estis was crossing Western Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a white or light-colored SUV traveling northbound. The driver did not stop and continued fleeing north on Western Avenue.
Estis sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. The Los Angeles County Sheriff-Coroner later confirmed his identity.
