One Dead After 3 Vehicle Crash on I-10 Freeway
FONTANA, CA (May 19, 2025) — A multi-vehicle collision on the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 in Fontana resulted in at least one fatality Monday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash occurred around 6:52 p.m. near the Sierra Avenue off-ramp in San Bernardino County and involved three vehicles: a Toyota Camry, a trailer, and a Honda Odyssey. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene and discovered one individual in the Honda Odyssey trapped and unresponsive inside the vehicle.
San Bernardino County Fire Worked Tirelessly To Remove The Victim From His Vehicle And Get Him Help
San Bernardino County Fire personnel worked to extricate the victim, who was later transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. While the severity of injuries was initially unclear, CHP confirmed later in the evening that the incident had resulted in at least one death.
At approximately 8:42 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department requested a coroner’s response. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. Early reports from CHP suggested the possibility of a fourth vehicle being involved, though this has not been confirmed.
Westbound Lanes On The 10 Freeway Were Closed For Hours
All westbound lanes of I-10 were closed for several hours as officers conducted their investigation and crews cleared the wreckage. The lanes were fully reopened shortly after 8:00 p.m. One of the vehicles involved was impounded for further forensic analysis.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the crash to contact the CHP Inland Division or local San Bernardino officials.
