Pedestrian Killed On Alvarado and Eighth Street When Car Jumps Curb After Being Struck
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 11, 2025) — A violent late-night collision in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles left one pedestrian dead and another critically injured after a vehicle involved in the crash veered onto a sidewalk, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Eighth and Alvarado streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
One Car Traveling South In The Westlake Area Collided With Another Starting A Chain Reaction
Investigators say a vehicle traveling southbound on Alvarado Street collided with another vehicle heading westbound on Eighth Street. The impact caused the southbound vehicle to lose control and jump the curb, striking two men standing on the southwest corner sidewalk.
Emergency responders transported both victims to a nearby hospital, where one, a 45-year-old man, was pronounced dead. The second pedestrian remains in critical condition.
Authorities have not released details about the drivers or whether any arrests have been made. The crash remains under investigation by detectives at the Rampart Station in the Westlake area.
