405 Freeway Suffers Major Rush Hour Delays After Motorcycle Crash
INGLEWOOD, CA (April 23, 2025) — A collision involving two motorcyclists brought northbound Interstate 405 to a halt near La Cienega Boulevard on Wednesday morning, triggering a SigAlert and significant traffic delays during peak commute hours.
The crash occurred just before 7:46 a.m. in the HOV and #1 lanes, where both riders were found down on the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Emergency crews from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Freeway Service Patrol quickly responded to the scene.
The Carpool Lane On the 405 Was Closed For Just Under An Hour
At 8:13 a.m., the CHP issued a SigAlert, closing the HOV lane for approximately 45 minutes while authorities rendered aid and cleared the scene. Both motorcyclists were receiving medical attention, though the severity of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.
Inglewood Tow Service was called to assist with clearing the wreckage and was expected to arrive within 20 minutes, according to CHP dispatch records.
Traffic Backup Reached Several Miles In The Northbound Lanes
The collision caused traffic to back up for several miles, severely impacting northbound flow through the area. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Motorists are urged to use caution and consider alternate routes while authorities continue their investigation.
