Jake Huard Fatally Struck in 2-Car Collision on Highway 134 in Glendale

Man Struck and Killed on Highway 134 Near Pacific Ave.
GLENDALE, CA (August 16, 2024) — A tragic accident on Highway 134 near Pacific Avenue resulted in the death of 24-year-old Jake Huard late Friday night. The fatal collision, which involved two vehicles, occurred at approximately 11:41 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The incident began when a silver Mitsubishi became disabled in the middle lane of the highway for reasons still under investigation. Jake Huard, who was sitting in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, exited the car. Moments later, a black Mazda, traveling at about 65 mph in the No. 2 lane, struck the rear of the Mitsubishi. The Mazda also collided with Huard, who was standing outside the vehicle.
Jake Huard Succumbed To His Injuries At The Scene of the Accident
Jake Huard, a resident of Los Angeles, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 19-year-old woman from Pasadena, suffered major injuries. She was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the Mazda, a 22-year-old man from El Monte, sustained minor injuries.
Following the collision, CHP closed all eastbound lanes of Highway 134 for several hours to conduct a thorough investigation. The lanes were reopened at 7:15 a.m. Saturday. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
