2 Dead in Fatal Shoot out After Police Chase Multi-Car Crash in Ontario, CA
Ontario, CA (May 5, 2024) – A police chase turned deadly on Sunday morning, resulting in a multi-car accident and a fatal shooting at the intersection of Grove Avenue and Philadelphia Street. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 a.m., has left the community in shock.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that one of the women’s boyfriends, who had a history of domestic violence, was threatening them with a gun. The suspect was located a short distance away inside a car, but negotiation attempts to coax him out were unsuccessful. Subsequently, he fled the area at a high rate of speed, prompting a pursuit by police.
According to the Ontario Police Department, the chase began when officers attempted to stop a suspect connected to a disturbance at a nearby residence. Despite police instructions to exit the vehicle, the suspect, known for his history of domestic violence, refused and led authorities on a high-speed pursuit.
Ontario Police Chase Comes To A Tragic End When Suspect Tries To Hijack Another Vehicle After Crash
During the chase, the suspect purportedly drove on the wrong side of the 60 Freeway after entering via an off-ramp. The chase came to a tragic end when the suspect crashed into two other vehicles at the intersection of Grove Avenue and Philadelphia Street. Following the collision, the suspect exited his vehicle, fled the scene, and attempted to carjack another vehicle. Police were forced to intervene, resulting in the fatal shooting of the suspect.
Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the suspect to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Additionally, two of the crash victims were taken to a hospital for treatment. One of them was discharged with minor injuries, while the other tragically passed away.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved in the incident. The investigation into the events leading up to the crash and the fatal shooting is ongoing.
