DUI Crash on 10 Freeway in Upland Kills 31-Year-Old Pomona Man
Upland, CA (June 29, 2023) – A devastating DUI crash on Sunday evening, June 25, resulted in the untimely death of Gilbert Duran Jr. The incident occurred on the 10 Freeway in Upland, just west of Euclid Avenue, around 8:00 p.m.
Gilbert Duran Jr. Was At Fault According to CHP Officers
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Duran Jr., a 31-year-old resident of Pomona, was operating a Mercury sedan in a reckless manner while traveling west on the freeway. In a horrifying turn of events, he collided with eight other vehicles in the westbound lanes. Subsequently, he lost control of his vehicle and veered across the concrete center median, entering the eastbound lanes. The collision continued as he crashed into the front end of a Nissan sedan.
Driver of Nissan Was Transported To Local Hospital For Treatment
The impact proved fatal for Duran Jr., who suffered grave injuries and tragically passed away at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the Nissan sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities strongly suspect that alcohol played a significant role in the crash, leading to the fatality. Consequently, an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
