Santa Clarita, CA (March 4, 2024) – In a dramatic turn of events, a police chase ended in a crash on Magic Mountain Parkway near the 5 Freeway, resulting in the arrest of two individuals.
The incident, which took place around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, began when officers from the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office spotted a 2011 BMW sedan speeding on the northbound freeway. Attempting to pull the vehicle over, officers initiated a traffic stop. However, the driver of the BMW chose to evade authorities, leading them on a high-speed pursuit north on the 5 Freeway before looping back down towards Castaic, reaching speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
CHP Units Strategically Put The Pursuit To An End
The pursuit came to a halt when CHP units strategically deployed a spike strip near Rye Canyon Road, causing the suspect to slow down and eventually exit the freeway. Despite these efforts, the BMW collided with an Audi at Magic Mountain Parkway before coming to a stop near the raised center median.
Following the crash, law enforcement officers arrested two suspects, though it was not immediately clear if any of the vehicle’s occupants sustained injuries.
