Suspect Hit-and-run Driver who Killed a San Diego Pedestrian in Logan Heights Area is Arrested
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 7, 2022) – San Diego Police arrested a suspect in connection with the hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in the Logan Heights area early Monday morning.
The January 3 crash occurred on Franklin Avenue in the 2000 block.
The time was roughly 3:00 a.m., San Diego Police said.
Reports say the suspect driver struck the pedestrian, and fled the crash site.
Responders transported the victim to the hospital. He was pronounced deceased in the hospital.
The victim was identified only as a man in his sixties. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators received information about a vehicle that was believed to have been the one that struck the victim. According to Victoria Houseman, who is a sergeant with San Diego Police, authorities found the vehicle parked a short distance from where the crash occurred.
Authorities arrested a suspect on suspicion of felony hit and run. He was identified as Brandon Anthony Vasaturo, a resident of San Diego, 33 years old.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
