San Diego Two-vehicle Fiery Crash on I-8 Causes Injuries in Mission Valley Area
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 15, 2021) – Two vehicles collided on I-8 in San Diego Monday night, and one vehicles caught fire after the crash. The December 12 crash occurred on the eastbound side of the freeway, close to where the transition for I-805 is located in the Mission Valley area.
The time was roughly 10:42 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
The vehicles involved in the crash have not been described, and the way in which the crash occurred has not been reported.
One of the vehicles went off the roadway, plunged down an embankment and, after landing in a ditch, erupted in flames.
Reports say the driver of the burning vehicle was able to exit before the car was consumed by flames.
Responders arrived to help, and they extinguished the fire.
Responders transported the person who exited the burning vehicle to a hospital. The person suffered injuries that were described as minor.
The person’s identity has not been reported.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was not injured, reports say. The identity of the person has also not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash.
