Crash on Highway 65, Involving Big Rig, Causes Injuries in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 27, 2021) – Early in the afternoon on Wednesday in Bakersfield, three vehicles collided on Highway 65. The May 26 incident resulted in serious injuries to at least one of the victims.
The time was roughly 12:29 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Three vehicles–described as a big rig, an SUV, and a pickup truck–collided. The manner in which the collision occurred has not been described. The sequence in which each vehicle was affected is not yet known.
Responders arrived and worked to free one person from the wreckage of a vehicle. They transported a patient to the hospital.
The types of injuries the person suffered have not been described, though they were reported as serious. The identity of the patient has not been disclosed.
It is not known from reports if responders transported other patients to the hospital. None of the people involved in the crash have been identified.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened. They are currently collecting information for that effort.
