San Diego Man Killed, and Woman Seriously Injured in Crash on Balboa Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 17, 2021) – On Sunday night in San Diego’s Clairemont Mesa West neighborhood, a broadside crash killed a man, and seriously injured a woman. The May 16 incident occurred on Balboa Avenue at the intersection with Mount Everest Boulevard.
The time was roughly 10:20 p.m., Robert Heims said. Heims is an officer with San Diego Police.
A vehicle–described as a Honda Accord–had been heading north on Mount Everest Boulevard, according to Heims. A vehicle–described as Toyota Camry–was traveling on Balboa Avenue and heading east.
The two vehicles collided, with the Toyota hitting the Honda broadside.
Responders arrived and pronounced the person who had been driving the Honda deceased at the crash site. He was identified only as in his twenties. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Toyota suffered injuries that were described as life threatening. Responders transported her to a hospital. Her current condition is not known.
She was identified only as 29 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened, and they are continuing their efforts to gather information and details.
