San Diego Crash in Mountain View Area Injures Two; DUI Suspected
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 10, 2021) – Early in the evening on Saturday in San Diego, a driver suspected of DUI is alleged to have rear-ended a pickup truck. The May 8 incident, which occurred in the neighborhood of Mountain View, injured both drivers.
The time was roughly 6:08 p.m., according to Robert Heims. Heims is an officer with San Diego Police.
A vehicle–described as a Ford Ranger pickup truck–had been heading south on 45th Street. At an intersection in the 400 block, the pickup was struck by a vehicle–described as a Ford Fusion–that is alleged to have gone through the stop sign without stopping.
After the initial impact, the Fusion smashed into a vehicle that was parked, and the parked vehicle struck another parked vehicle. Neither of the parked vehicles has been described.
Responders arrived to help. The person who had been driving the pickup truck suffered injuries that included a leg that was broken.
The driver was identified only as 49 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Fusion suffered injuries that included a cut head. The driver was identified only as 35 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The current condition of the two patients is not known.
Investigators are currently collecting information to understand the crash.
