Car Smashes into Overturned Semi Truck in Fontana on 210 Freeway; One Killed, Two Injured
FONTANA, CA (May 7, 2021) – Early in the morning on Wednesday in Fontana, a car smashed into a semi truck that was disabled on the 210 Freeway, and two people who were outside of the truck.
The driver of the car died at the crash site, and the two people suffered major injuries in the May 5 incident.
A semi truck, which had been traveling on the 210 Freeway westbound, overturned in an area close to Citrus Avenue. The time was roughly 2:35 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A driver, who came upon the scene, stopped and attempted to help the truck driver exit the wreck. While the person was working to help the truck driver, a vehicle–described as a Tesla–smashed into the Good Samaritan and the truck driver.
Responders arrived and found the person who had been driving the Tesla died at the crash site. He was identified only as a resident of Running Springs, 35 years old. His name has not been reported.
Responders transported the Good Samaritan and the truck driver to hospitals in the area. The two men suffered injuries that were described as major. Their current condition is not known.
The truck driver was identified only as 50 years old and a resident of San Bernardino. His name has not been reported.
The Good Samaritan was identified only as 30 years old and also a resident of San Bernardino. His name has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to work on the incident.
