Patrol Vehicle Struck When Driver Suffers Seizure in Oceanside
OCEANSIDE, CA (April 30, 2021) – On Tuesday morning, a patrol vehicle for Oceanside Police was involved in a head-on crash when the driver of the other vehicle suffered a seizure. The April 27 incident occurred close to Buddy Todd Park, on Foussat Road.
The time was roughly a little after 8:00 a.m., according to Oceanside Police.
A vehicle–described as a Toyota sedan–had been traveling on Foussat Road. The Toyota swerved off the road, smashed into several cars that were parked on the street close to Noreen Way, and veered back towards the street.
The Toyota collided head on with the patrol vehicle, according to Taurino Valdovinos. Valdovinos is a lieutenant with Oceanside Police.
Responders arrived and transported the driver of the Toyota to the hospital. According to reports, the woman had suffered a seizure.
Her current condition is not known. Her identity has not been reported.
The officer in the patrol vehicle was reported to be uninjured in the crash. The officer has not been identified in reports.
The owners of the parked cars that were struck have also not been identified.
Reports say both vehicles involved in the collision were totaled.
Investigators are continuing their work on the incident.
