Two Teens Killed in Crash in San Diego’s Mission Bay Area Near SeaWorld
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 22, 2021) – Two teens were killed on Wednesday night in San Diego when the pickup truck they were traveling in smashed into a pole close to SeaWorld. The April 21 incident occurred on Sea World Drive in the 500 block close to Sea World Way in the area of Mission Bay.
The time was roughly a little before 9:30 p.m., San Diego Police said.
A vehicle–described as a Ford F-150 truck–is alleged to have been going at a fast speed, according to police, when it went out of the driver’s control. The pickup smashed into a light pole and a streetlight, according to John Buttle. Buttle is an officer with San Diego Police.
Responders arrived and worked to extricate two occupants of the vehicle. Both people died at the crash site.
The driver was identified only as 19 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The passenger was also identified only as 19 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are working to gather information and details about the incident.
