Vehicle Smashes into Tree in San Diego’s Miramar Area, Killing One, Injuring Two
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 20, 2021) – Late in the afternoon on Monday in San Diego, a vehicle smashed into a tree, killing one person, and injuring two other people. The April 19 incident occurred in the area of Miramar, off of I-15 and near Miramar Way.
The time was roughly 4:10 p.m., San Diego Fire-Rescue said.
A vehicle–described as a Jeep SUV–went off the southbound side of the roadway of I-15 and smashed into a tree, for reasons that are not known.
Responders arrived and pronounced one person deceased at the crash site. The victim was identified only as male. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
Responders transported two other people to San Diego’s Sharp Memorial Hospital. One of the patients suffered injuries that were described as serious. The types of injuries of the other patient have not been described.

Reports do not identify the driver.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened. They are currently in the process of collecting information for that effort.
