Hit-and-run Driver who Struck Man, Killing Him, is Sought by Police
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 16, 2021) – The hit-and-run driver who struck and killed John Draper last month in South Los Angeles is being sought by police. They are asking for the public’s help with information related to the March 19 incident, which occurred in the neighborhood of Hyde Park.
Draper had been walking on Hyde Park Boulevard at roughly 9:40 p.m. when a vehicle–described as a Ford 150 pickup truck, gray in color with Arizona license plates–struck him, Los Angeles Police said.
The person driving the pickup truck fled the crash site without helping the victim.
Responders arrived and pronounced Draper deceased at the incident site. He was 74 years old. According to Ryan Moreno, who is a detective, the elderly Draper had been walking with a cane when the crash occurred.
