Car Smashes into Semi Truck on I-15 near Bonsall, Killing Driver
BONSALL, CA (April 16, 2021) – On Thursday morning near Bonsall, a driver died after smashing into the rear end of a semi truck on I-15. The April 15 incident occurred near the Old Highway 395 offramp.
The time was roughly a little before 9:05 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A vehicle–described as a Dodge Charger–had been heading south on the freeway. According to Curtis Martin, who is a sergeant with the California Highway Patrol, the driver is alleged to have been going at a fast speed, and passing other vehicles.
The Dodge smashed into the rear end of the semi truck in the freeway’s number four lane. The truck had been traveling roughly 50 miles per hour, according to Martin.
The car was lodged under the trailer of the semi truck.
Responders arrived and pronounced the driver of the Dodge deceased at the crash site. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the truck has not been identified in reports. It is not known if the truck driver was hurt in the crash.
Investigators are working to understand the incident.
