Two People and One Other Killed in South Los Angeles Crash
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 13, 2021) – Myshawn Logan and Quindien Holmes were identified as two of the three victims killed in a crash on Sunday in South Los Angeles. One other person–who was identified as a man in his twenties–has not been identified by name. The April 11 crash occurred in the neighborhood of Florence, where Central Avenue and Florence Avenue intersect.
The time was roughly 10:51 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
According to authorities, a vehicle–described as a Toyota–had been traveling on Florence Avenue and heading east, at a rate of speed that may not have been safe. The Toyota went out of the driver’s control, and collided with another vehicle–described as a Jeep. The Jeep then rear-ended a Honda–the third vehicle involved in the incident.
After the initial collision, the Toyota kept moving out of the driver’s control, smashing into a building and striking a pole nearby.
One person who had been traveling as a passenger in the Toyota was thrown from the vehicle. Responders pronounced him deceased at the crash site.
Responders pronounced two other passengers in the Toyota, who had been seated in the back, deceased at the crash site. Officials with the Los Angeles County Coroner identified two of the victims as Logan, who was 14 years old; and Holmes, who was 23 years old. Both were residents of Los Angeles.
The name of the third person who died has not been reported.
Responders transported the driver of the Toyota to St. Francis Medical Center. He suffered injuries that were described as moderate.
He was identified only as 20 years old, and a resident of Hawthorne. His name has not been reported.
Responders transported a passenger who had been traveling in the Jeep to St. Francis Medical Center. She suffered injuries that were described as minor. She was identified only as 28 years old, and a resident of Los Angeles. Her name has not been reported.
Reports say that neither the driver of the Honda, nor of the Jeep, was injured in the crash. They have not been identified.
Investigators are working to understand the crash.
