Driver Suspected of Smashing into Multiple Vehicles in Spring Valley is Arrested
SPRING VALLEY, CA (April 2, 2021) – On Thursday night, authorities arrested a man who is suspected of smashing his vehicle into six other vehicles on purpose in Spring Valley. The incident was first reported to authorities a little before 10:00 p.m., James McCurty said. McCurty is a sergeant with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities received a report that a man had crashed, on purpose, into a vehicle–described as a Toyota Prius. The crash occurred where Fury Lane and Calle Verde intersect in the unincorporated area of La Mesa.
According to the person who witnessed the incident, the driver smashed into the Prius two more times with his pickup truck. The person who witnessed the incident tried to leave the area, reports say, but the driver of the pickup truck is alleged to have followed her and hit the back of her vehicle on purpose.
McCurty recounted that the man who was driving the pickup truck is alleged to have fled that crash site, and subsequently struck another vehicle–described as a sedan–a number of times. That incident occurred on Jamacha Road, in the parking lot of a Starbucks store.
The pickup truck driver–who was identified as David Archer, 56 years old–is alleged to have struck two more vehicles in the area before fleeing that incident site.
Reports say deputies allege they saw Archer go through a light that was red at the Campo Road and Jamacha Road intersection. Authorities pursued him through Lemon Grove, San Diego, and Spring Valley.
Authorities allege Archer rear-ended a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Jamacha Road, which sent the pickup truck to strike two vehicles in a side-swipe motion before coming to a stop.
Authorities arrested Archer, and took him into custody.
None of the other people involved in the crashes has been identified, nor is the exact number known. None of their names, ages, genders, and cities of residence has been reported.
The injuries that each person may have suffered have not been described. Investigators are working on the details.
