Man Identified as Person Killed in Highway 154 Head-on Crash
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, CA (April 1, 2021) – Sean Daye McDonough was identified by authorities this week as the man who was killed in a head-on crash in Santa Barbara County. The March 25 incident occurred on Highway 154, not far from where Cachuma Lake Village is located.
The time was roughly 4:00 a.m., Raquel Zick said. Zick is a spokesperson with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department.
The vehicle McDonough had been driving–described as a Toyota–collided with a vehicle–described as a Dodge. The Toyota had been heading west, and for reasons that are not known, made a turn across the double yellow lines.
The Toyota was in the path of the Dodge, and the two vehicles collided, reports say.
Responders arrived and pronounced McDonough deceased at the crash site. He was a resident of Ventura, 39 years old.
The person who had been driving the Dodge suffered major injuries, and responders worked to free him from the wreckage, Daniel Bertucelli said. Bertucelli is a captain with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
The driver was identified as Ernest Gilbert, a resident of Santa Barbara.
