Downtown Los Angeles Wrong-way Crash on 110 Freeway Kills Woman and One Other; Injures 3
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 31, 2021) – On Tuesday morning in downtown Los Angeles, a wrong-way collision killed two people and injured 3 others. Jasmine Hope De La Cruz was identified as one of the people who died by the Los Angeles County Coroner.
The March 30 incident occurred on the 110 Freeway on the northbound side, near 11th Street and to the south of it.
The time was roughly a little before 2:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A vehicle–described as a Lexus Rx400–was reported to have been heading southbound in the number 4 lane that heads north. The Lexus hit a vehicle–described as a Toyota Camry–head on.
Responders pronounced two people who had been in the Toyota deceased at the crash site. One of the victims was De La Cruz. She was 21 years old.
The other victim was identified as a man 21 years old. His name has not been reported.
Three occupants of the Lexus suffered injuries that were described as moderate to major. They were identified as a man 32 years old who had been the driver; a woman 32 years old; and a boy 4 years old. The names of the people have not been reported.
A vehicle struck the two wrecked vehicles after the initial crash. Reports do not described the vehicle, nor identify the driver.
Investigators are continuing to work on gathering information and details about the incident.
